CLASS RULES (Full guide to giving feedback here) :

What is written and discussed is confidential.
Focus your feedback on the writing and less the subject matter.
Please do not offer life advice. (ie. "When that happened to me, this is what I did...")
Refer to the writer as the narrator rather than "you."
Mute yourself when you are not speaking.

Writing Class Radio has taught me so much about writing, since personal essays translate so perfectly to writing a memoir. It’s been such a wonderful way to grow as a writer. It’s also community and writing with others, learning from the essays read on the podcast… it’s everything I was looking for when I started writing my book.

This class includes access to Allison’s or Margery’s First Draft Writer’s Club and admits 9 students only.

Each week, 3 writers will share the second draft of an essay they would like feedback on. The class will listen and discuss then Allison will weigh in. We will also study published stories to inspire students to get their own essays published.

Writers are encouraged to attend First Draft for six months-one year before applying to this group. The cost is $600. There is a 3-month commitment.
